The most anatomically correct 'vagina pants' you're ever likely to see

A British art student has created underwear showing intricately labelled diagrams of the female reproductive system. It's time to wear your biology textbook on your body, says Claire Cohen

Remember the Tata bikini top? Well, hot on its nipples, come the most anatomically correct pair of pants you’re ever likely to see.
Art student Eleanor Beth Haswell, 18 from North East England has created knickers, which depict the female reproductive system in all its glory. From the cervix to the fallopian tubes and even ‘broad tissue’, the pants are a celebration of our hidden lady parts.
What's more the diagram is handily annotated in a style we haven't seen since the last time we looked at a biology textbook. So if you (or your partner) aren’t completely clear where the cervix is, the mystery can finally be solved.
Haswell’s project, called ‘Why are you so afraid of your own anatomy?’ also includes a padded bra.

It is reminiscent of the #FreetheNipple campaign, which saw women walking around New York topless in an attempt to break down gender divides.
The #FreeTheNipple movement – originally started by filmmaker Lina Esco - won fans including Scout Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, who strolled topless through the city, documenting it on Twitter.
If only she'd know about Haswell's anatomical offering...

The underwear has met with a mixed response online. Most women seem to love it – with many wanting to know how they can get their hands on a set.
‘Where can I purchase your anatomical lingerie?’ writes one commenter. ‘I am a doula and CBE and would LOVE the set as a teaching tool!’
‘My boyfriend could use it as a road map’ quips another.
Others have questioned how flattering the Bridget Jones high-cut pants would be. (Personally, I think it’s food for thought that our usual ‘bikini style’ low-cut knickers barely cover the uterus).
Sadly, that’s not something they need to worry about – the lingerie isn’t available to purchase. But with demand growing, surely it can only be a matter of time before Haswell - who is part of the Clandestine Collective, a group for young female artists - takes her pants commercial.
After all, what better present to unwrap in front of your dad on Christmas morning?
