Acer has today unveiled the Chromebook 13 powered by Nvidia's nifty new Tegra K1 chip.
This is supposed to be a seriously high-powered machine from Acer, offering great efficiency, spiffy graphics and a quad-core CPU.
When Chromebooks first popped onto the scene they weren't terribly popular, but sales have swiftly picked up as a direct result of the browser-reliant machines improving vastly. This is the first Chromebook we've seen to pack Nvidia's new K1 chip though. The processor is claimed to be super efficient and uses a 192-core GPU that should offer the best graphics performance of any Chromebook yet.
It seems 13 is Acer's number as its new model offers 13 hours of battery life and a 13.3-inch screen. The display size means there's plenty of room for a full-sized keyboard and nice large trackpad. A bonus is that it's a slip of a machine at only 18mm thick and it doesn't need an internal cooling fan.
There are two options when it comes to screen resolution. Either you can choose a Full HD display with a 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution, or you can save a few extra pennies by choosing the machine with the 1,366x768-pixel resolution. It's worth bearing in mind that the the higher-resolution screen is also more demanding on the battery, meaning you will only get 11.5 hours of juice out of it. As such, which model you go for could easily depend on whether you value screen resolution or battery life more.
